Who We Are
Established in 2007, Yashoda Foundation (YF) is a non-profit voluntary organisation. It works for the welfare and empowerment of underprivileged women, children, elderly and physically challenged individuals by enriching their lives and giving them access to education, health and livelihood skills.
Yashoda Foundation is a public-private partnership enabler working with several corporates, other NPO’s & NGO’s and individuals in areas of health, education & livelihood for vulnerable and at-risk children, families and communities.
Education is a fundamental right, but given the sheer pressure on the public education system and the inability to afford expensive private education results in a huge number of children who drop out of education at an early stage. Yashoda Foundation has adopted a school, runs a home for boys and is in the midst of starting a community centre for girls in Addagutta.
One of the biggest issues communities face is lack of access to affordable and reliable healthcare. The lack of proper healthcare coupled with less than ideal living conditions results in disease outbreaks and infections which spread rapidly. Yashoda Foundation works with other groups, foundations and organisations to identify communities or individuals who need help and organise assistance programs often involving trained medical professionals and community workers.
We at Yashoda Foundation believe in the age-old adage about teaching people to fish rather than giving them the fish. We have worked with experts to develop innovative programs to skill and re skill the youth and their families to be able to not only access employment opportunities but also to become entrepreneurs, grow themselves and eventually become a source of employment for the community.
All the programs focus on skill development, language skills, business mentoring and market linkages. The Foundation has also developed special programs to mentor and support women entrepreneurs and women Self Help Groups. Quite a majority of our beneficiaries are parents and families of the children involved in our education initiatives.
